The Algerian theater artist Khalil Bouzhazh died Tuesday morning in the state of Constantine, after a long struggle with illness, according to what was reported by specialized artistic pages on social networking sites, quoting his brother’s son.
With the departure of Bouzazeh, the Algerian artistic scene loses one of its prominent faces, after he left behind a rich artistic legacy with theatrical and television works that imprinted on the public’s memory.

A state of sadness prevailed in artistic circles and on social media platforms, as a large number of artists and his fans mourned him, praying for mercy and forgiveness for him, praising his high morals and distinguished artistic career, and followers shared touching words that expressed their appreciation for the works the late artist presented that contributed to enriching theater and drama in Algeria.

The late artist was born in the state of Constantine, and was distinguished during his artistic career by a remarkable ability to embody various roles, whether on stage or in television dramas.

He worked for years with the Regional Theater Troupe in Constantine, where he participated in presenting a number of theatrical performances that left a clear impact on the conscience of the Algerian theater audience, according to media reports.

In addition to his theatrical presence, Khalil Bouzahzah recorded a prominent presence in Algerian television drama, through his participation in a number of well-known series, including “Dala,” “Shari,” “Ramadaniyat,” and “Bab Al-Rai,” which gained him a wide fan base and established his position as one of the distinguished artists in the artistic scene.

His portrayal of the character of Sheikh Abdelhamid Ben Badis, one of the figures of the reform and scientific movement in Algeria, is considered one of the most prominent stations of his artistic career, as he presented this historical role with remarkable creativity, which strengthened his standing with the public and added to his artistic credit an iconic figure from modern Algerian history.
