Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, announced today, Wednesday, that navigation statistics in the canal during the first half of the fiscal year 2025/2026 witnessed a noticeable improvement, as the number of passing ships increased by 5.8%, while net tonnages increased by 16%, which was reflected in revenues, with an increase of 18.5% compared to the same period of the last fiscal year.
The Chairman of the Authority confirmed that these positive indicators are driven by the return of some shipping lines to using the canal in light of the stability of the situation in the Red Sea region, indicating that the current performance enhances the canal’s position as one of the most important global sea lanes and reflects the confidence of the international trade community in its ability to accommodate the increasing growth in maritime transport traffic.
