Today, Tuesday, the city of Johannesburg in South Africa witnessed the signing ceremony of South Africa’s accession document to the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), allowing the country to officially move to the status of a Class “A” shareholder in the bank.

The signing ceremony was held at the Four Seasons Hotel Westcliffe in Gauteng Governorate, in the presence of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

President Ramaphosa stressed that this step represents the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at promoting industrial development, stimulating export-based economic growth, and deepening trade integration between the countries of the African continent.

For its part, Afrexim Bank indicated that it will begin implementing an economic support program for South Africa worth $8 billion, which reflects the strengthening of the country’s role in supporting the common African economy, and expanding opportunities for trade and investment cooperation with other African countries, which contributes to building a more prosperous and sustainable continent.
