The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, hosted the Director General of Operations at the World Bank, Anna Berde, and her delegation at the headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria in the capital, Abuja.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed the ongoing economic reforms in Nigeria, including monetary and financial policies aimed at enhancing economic stability, in addition to issues of financial inclusion and expanding the scope of banking services to include broader segments of society. Cooperative initiatives between the two institutions were also discussed to support financial innovation and develop digital infrastructure, which contributes to improving the business environment and increasing investment opportunities.

The two sides stressed that cooperation between the Central Bank of Nigeria and the World Bank represents an essential pillar for supporting sustainable growth in the country, especially in light of global economic challenges. Governor Cardoso indicated that the ongoing reforms aim to enhance confidence in the financial system and achieve a balance between monetary stability and advancing development.

For her part, Anna Birdie stressed the World Bank's commitment to supporting Nigeria in implementing reform programs, stressing that enhancing financial inclusion and expanding the base of beneficiaries of banking services are among the most important tools for achieving comprehensive development.

This meeting comes within the framework of ongoing cooperation between the two institutions, reflecting their keenness to support policies and procedures that contribute to achieving economic stability and expanding investment and development opportunities in Nigeria.
