Member of the Somali Federal Parliament, Abdullah Farah Mir, said, “The recognition of new states in both Somalia and Yemen aims to redraw influence in the sea lanes.”

He stated in his tweet on the “X” platform that these mini-states will not be able to fragment the region, whether on the Somali coast overlooking the Gulf of Aden or Bab al-Mandab.

He explained: He was deluded by those who thought that he was able to break up the region by creating a statelet on the Somali coast overlooking the Gulf of Aden and Bab al-Mandab under the name “Somaliland,” and another state opposite it in southern Yemen under the banner of “South Arabia.”

He pointed out that “these alleged entities are nothing but tools to redraw influence over the Red Sea corridors,” pointing at the same time to Saudi Arabia’s rejection of these projects.
