Samuel Nartey George, a Ghanaian member of parliament and political activist, said that the events that occurred in Venezuela bring his thesis on international law issues back to the forefront.

He added in a post on his official Facebook account that these events brought to his mind the issue of regional sovereignty, the motivations for the responsibility to protect, and issues related to the interventions of “great powers.”

He wondered whether a situation similar to what happened in Libya or Iraq could be repeated in Latin America, pointing to the need to understand Operation Dawn in its context, compared to Russia's attempts in Ukraine or Israel's movements in Palestine.

He concluded by saying that these events truly reflect exciting times in global affairs and international law.
