The Supreme Court of Guinea upheld the victory of General Mamadi Doumbouya in the first presidential elections since the 2021 coup, after he obtained 86.7% of the votes, according to the General Directorate of Elections.
In a televised speech, Doumbouya stressed the country's unity and called on citizens to build a new Guinea based on peace, justice and shared prosperity, while maintaining political and economic sovereignty.
Runner-up Yero Baldi, who received 6.59% of the votes, had filed an appeal accusing the electoral body of tampering with the results, but withdrew the petition a day before the Supreme Court's ruling.
