Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, in the presence of the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdel-Ati, in Cairo.
According to a statement by the Egyptian presidency, the meeting discussed a number of regional issues of common interest, and also witnessed confirmation of the congruence of the Egyptian-Saudi position on the necessity of reaching peaceful solutions to the region’s crises, in a way that preserves the unity and sovereignty of countries and the integrity of their territories, especially in Sudan, Yemen, Somalia and the Gaza Strip.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel Ati, also held a discussion session with the Saudi Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan, and they discussed the latest developments in the situation in the Horn of Africa region.

The two ministers affirmed their complete rejection of any unilateral measures that affect the sovereignty of Somalia, especially the Israeli recognition of the so-called Somaliland, as it is a flagrant violation of the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, and undermines the foundations of peace and security in that vital region. The two sides stressed the firm Egyptian and Saudi position in support of the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia, and rejected any attempts to divide Somalia or diminish its sovereignty.
The meeting also discussed developments in the situation in Sudan, where the two ministers stressed the importance of continuing coordination within the framework of the Quartet mechanism, with the aim of pushing towards a humanitarian truce and a comprehensive ceasefire. The two ministers stressed the importance of preserving Sudan's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and supporting its national institutions.
