Last night, the Somali National Army carried out a planned and precise military operation in the Bur Ili area of Bur Hakaba District in Bay Region, targeting a group of Al-Shabaab terrorist militants.

The army stated in a statement published on the Ministry of Defense page that the targeted group had been under surveillance for some time, and was preparing to carry out suicide attacks using car bombs against civilians and security targets. The operation resulted in the killing of (22) terrorists, and the destruction of all explosives and vehicles prepared for the attacks.

According to intelligence assessments, Danab Special Forces succeeded in neutralizing the threat before it was implemented, which prevented casualties among civilians and security forces. After completing the mission, Danab Special Forces, with the support of international partners, returned safely to their bases.

For its part, the Ministry of Defense and the leadership of the Somali National Army praised the courage, professionalism and vigilance of the armed forces, stressing the continuation of anti-terrorism operations until the complete elimination of the Al-Shabaab threat and achieving lasting peace and stability throughout the country.
