The Somali government announced today (Monday) the cancellation of all agreements concluded between it and the United Arab Emirates.
The Somali government spokesman revealed the agreements that the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Somalia approved to cancel, and the security and defense agreements included cooperation in the management of strategic ports and any previous bilateral agreements between the two governments or entities affiliated with Somalia and the UAE.
The spokesman justified the decision to cancel the agreements because he had reports and evidence of actions that undermine Somalia's sovereignty and political stability.
One of the reasons for canceling the agreements is what the Somali government described as violations that affect Somali territorial integrity and the supreme interests of the state.
The spokesman stressed his country's desire to protect national sovereignty and fully control bilateral relations.
