قال السيناتور جيم ريش إن العديد من الناس في أفريقيا يواجهون مزيجاً من الخوف والقمع بسبب معتقداتهم الدينية.

وأشار خلال جلسة استماع أمام لجنة الاستعراض الدولي للحرية الدينية في الولايات المتحدة إلى أن القادة المسيحيين يتعرضون للهجوم، وأن المصلين يواجهون الاضطهاد لمجرد إيمانهم.

وأضاف ريش أن أعمال الإرهاب وفشل الحكومات في حماية المجتمعات الدينية الضعيفة والعداء المباشر من بعض الجهات الحكومية وغير الحكومية تجاه المصلين يجب أن تتوقف فوراً
