The head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, welcomed the initiative launched by US President Donald Trump to resolve the Nile River water issue between Egypt, Sudan and Africa.

This came in a post by Al-Burhan on the X platform, and he wrote: The Government of Sudan welcomes and supports President Trump’s initiative and mediation on the Nile waters, in order to find sustainable and satisfactory solutions that preserve everyone’s rights, which helps sustain security and stability in the region.

The American President had offered, in a letter to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to re-mediate his country between Egypt and Ethiopia regarding the waters of the Nile River.

Trump said: I am ready to relaunch American mediation between Egypt and Ethiopia in order to reach a responsible and final solution to the issue of sharing the Nile River waters.

He added: I would like to help you achieve a result that guarantees the water needs of Egypt, the Republic of Sudan and Ethiopia in the long term.
