Expansion work on the military base at Berbera Airport in Somaliland has continued, with at least two new aircraft hangars being built, along with the expansion of logistical facilities including shelters, military equipment storage areas and barracks.

The “Rich Tedd” account, on the social media platform X, which specializes in intelligence analysis from open sources, reported that this base dates back to an agreement signed in 2016 with the UAE, for the purpose of establishing a naval and air base, with continuous expansions since 2023.

The information indicated that recent satellite images recorded construction activities and expansion of facilities, which reflects the importance of the strategic base in the Gulf of Aden region.

The analysis also indicated that the expansions raised speculation about the possibility of possible military cooperation with Israel and the United States, especially after the Israeli recognition of Somaliland in December 2025.
The account confirmed that this information is based on analysis of open sources (OSINT) and satellite publications.
