Aviation Magazine revealed that Ghana has placed an initial order for four Airbus helicopters. The aircraft contract includes two H175M aircraft, one ACH175 and one ACH160.

The two H175Ms will be equipped as multi-role helicopters to perform transport, search and rescue (SAR) and medical evacuation (EMS) operations, in addition to participating in disaster relief operations.

The ACH175 and ACH160 aircraft will be used primarily for government transportation and VIP service, to meet the mobility needs of the Ghanaian authorities.

With this order, Ghana becomes the second known customer for the military version of the Airbus H175M Super Medium Helicopter, after Spain announced its purchase last December. It should be noted that Accra has until now relied on operating Soviet-designed Mi‑17/171Sh (Hip) helicopters.
