The Senegal national football team, led by star Sadio Mane, was crowned champion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday evening for the second time in the history of the Teranga Lions, at the expense of host Morocco with a free goal after overtime.
Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, hosted the match between Senegal and Morocco today, Sunday, in the final round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The result of the match between Morocco and Senegal was clouded by a goalless draw on Sunday, specifically after star Ibrahim Diaz missed a penalty kick for the Moroccan national team in the final seconds of the match, so the Atlas Lions and Teranga Lions resorted to extra time.
In the 94th minute, player Papi Gueye scored the fatal goal for Senegal with a powerful shot that went past goalkeeper Yacine Bounou.
With this result, the Senegal national football team won the second African Cup of Nations title in its history.
