Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced in a press conference to review the results of diplomatic work for the year 2025 that his country has begun preparations for holding the third summit between Russia and Africa as part of Moscow's efforts to strengthen its political and economic presence on the African continent.

The anticipated summit comes after the second summit held in St. Petersburg in July 2023, which witnessed the signing of agreements in the fields of energy, mining, and infrastructure, in addition to Russia’s pledge to provide free shipments of grain to a number of African countries.

Lavrov stressed during the conference that the upcoming summit will constitute a new platform for deepening cooperation in the fields of trade, defense and diplomacy, stressing that Russia seeks to build strategic partnerships with African countries in light of global geopolitical transformations.
