During his participation in the World Economic Forum, the Minister of Justice of South Africa stressed his country's keenness to strengthen international and regional cooperation in the fields of migration, human and economic development.

On the sidelines of the forum, the Minister held an important meeting with Amy Pope, Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, where it was agreed to strengthen the strategic partnership to confront regional migration challenges across six main areas: migration and health, migration regulation, movement, resettlement and voluntary return with the help of combating human trafficking and emergency and humanitarian response.

In a related context, the Minister met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, Maxime Prévot, where he expressed his appreciation for Belgium's position in the principled defense of the United Nations Charter in light of the current challenges. It was also agreed to work jointly to improve humanitarian access to conflict areas on the African continent, in addition to deepening bilateral relations and economic cooperation through the Sixth Joint Committee scheduled to be held later this year in Pretoria.

The Minister of Justice stressed that these meetings reflect South Africa's commitment to supporting strategic partnerships that promote sustainable development, support regional stability, and open new horizons for international cooperation.
