Musalia Wamukolisi Mudavadi, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kenya, welcomed the visit of US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Verma to Nairobi, where bilateral and regional priorities were discussed and existing cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, energy, infrastructure and defense was reviewed, in addition to issues of peace and security.
Mudavadi stressed Kenya's appreciation for the United States' recognition of its leadership role in promoting international stability, especially through its participation in the multinational security support mission in Haiti, which came thanks to the strong partnership with Washington and the international community.
The Minister also welcomed the progress made by the United States in renewing the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) for an additional three years, considering this step to represent a major boost to bilateral trade and the basis for deeper and more mutually beneficial economic relations.
