تسلمت مصر رئاسة مجلس السلم والأمن التابع للاتحاد الأفريقي لشهر فبراير.
وقالت وزارة الخارجية المصرية في صفحتها الرسمية إن مصر تستهدف تعزيز فعالية المجلس باعتباره الجهاز الرئيس المعني بصوم الاستقرار وإرساء الأمن بالقارة الأفريقية بما يسهم في تسوية النزاعات ودعم الأمن وتحقيق اجندة الاتحاد الافريقي للتنمية2063.
واعلنت وزارة الخارجية اعتزام مصر إنفاذ فعاليات مكثفة تتناول الأوضاع في السودان والصومال بعقد مشاورات غير رسمية على المستوى الوزاري مع وزير خارجية السودان تعقبها مباحثات للأوضاع في السودان والصومال.
